LEEP: Envelope & Mechanical Systems

In partnership with CHBA's Towards Net Zero Renovations, BILD is pleased to bring the next installment of LEEP Training to members. Developed by NRCan’s LEEP team, these two sessions will cover the best new energy efficiency practices for building envelopes and mechanicals/air source heat pumps, specifically focusing on retrofits.

Members can choose the full day, or morning or afternoon to fit their training needs.

Morning: Envelope Systems, Technologies & Best Practices (8:00–11:45 a.m.)
In this session, we tackle building science considerations for deep energy wall retrofits for both heating and cooling considerations. Air sealing, insulation upgrades and more comprehensive retrofits can result in improved comfort, improved durability, reduced energy consumption, lower utility costs and improved thermal autonomy. Solution providers will outline various approaches and benefits. Ask your questions regarding best practices for applications specific to the GTA.

Afternoon: Mechanical Systems, Technologies & Best Practices (12:45–4:00 p.m.)
This session provides contractors with best practices for sizing, selecting and installing Air Source Heat Pumps as well as considerations and pain points. Key discussions will include how to leverage ASHPs in meeting upcoming high-performance requirements; resources that include NRCan’s new ASHP Sizing & Selection tool; the critical role ductwork design and proper installation plays in effective distribution systems; challenges with heat pump controls & operation; and overall system selection best practices.
