Builders support federal government infrastructure announcement
March 12, 2007
Toronto- Builders' say YES in a big way to the Prime Minister and Finance Minister Flaherty's announcement of FLOW that boosts funding in the GTA for public transit, transportation as well as climate change initiatives in Ontario.
"We are pleased that Prime Minister Harper and Flaherty recognize the need to invest in the GTA to ensure a strong economy and improved quality of life," said GTHBA-UDI president Bob Finnigan.
We like the fact that the federal government has recognized that balancing the investment between roads and transit is important. We also support Canada ecoTrust that will fund projects to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and air pollutants.
"This investment is timely and we are pleased to see co-operation between the federal and provincial government so that all GTA residents benefit from this historic announcement," said Finnigan.
Our members believe that this investment in various transportation projects and highway infrastructure will be the catalyst needed to fulfill the province's growth plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe, to protect the environment, to ensure Ontario's economy remains strong and to realize an improved quality of life for residents of the GTA
With more than 1,500 members, GTHBA-UDI, formed through the merger of the Greater Toronto Home Builders' Association and Urban Development Institute/Ontario is the voice of the residential land development, home building and professional renovation industry in the Greater Toronto Area. We are proudly affiliated with the Ontario and Canadian Home Builders' Associations.
